This photograph, taken in 1941 of John McKinley Carswell, formally a landed Canadian soldier with the first contingent of Canadians to arrive in England. He did his initial officers' training at Cambridge University followed by his Early Flying Training School ( EFTS) at RAF Hullavington and his Service Flying Training School at RAF Hatfield graduating in the summer of 1941.
